This plant is part of the Malvaceae family of plants, which includes some incredible ornamental flowers, such as the Hollyhock, Rose of Sharon and Hibiscus. It is, however, a very common weed in the city. The flowers are pretty, but small and often overlooked. It is a great edible, and flowers and leaves from specimens weeded from food-grade soil are great in salads.
